Cookie Policy
Last Updated: October 22, 2025
This Cookie Policy explains how Manifest uses cookies and similar technologies in our browser extension, web app, and related services (the “Service”). For details on how we handle personal data more broadly, please see our Privacy Policy. Your use of the Service is also subject to our Terms of Use.
1) What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by a website or service. They are widely used to make services work properly, keep you signed in, remember preferences, and help site owners understand usage.
2) How we use cookies
Manifest uses cookies and similar technologies to:
- Authenticate users and maintain secure sessions.
- Enable cross-device sync and account features.
- Improve reliability, performance, and user experience.
- Measure traffic and feature usage (in aggregate) to guide improvements.
3) Types of cookies we use
Strictly necessary (essential): Required for the Service to function, including sign-in, session management, and security (e.g., CSRF tokens). These cannot be switched off in our systems.
Functional: Remember basic settings (e.g., theme, last active Construct) to make your experience smoother. If disabled, some convenience may be lost, but core features will still work.
Analytics (limited/optional): We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate usage and improve the Service. These do not track sensitive content from your Constructs.
Advertising: Manifest does not use advertising cookies.
4) Cookies set by third parties
Some features rely on trusted third parties. For example, Stripe may set cookies when you subscribe to paid features, to support secure payments and fraud prevention. These third parties control their own cookies under their policies.
5) Examples of cookies used by Manifest
- Session / Auth cookies (essential): keep you signed in and route requests securely.
- CSRF token (essential): protects forms and API requests from cross-site forgery.
- Theme & Construct context (functional): remembers your last workspace and design settings.
- Stripe cookies (essential/third-party): support secure subscription payments.
6) Managing cookies
You can manage or block cookies in your browser settings. Most browsers let you delete cookies, block cookies from specific sites, or notify you before a cookie is stored. Blocking essential cookies may cause parts of the Service (e.g., login, sync) to stop functioning.
To learn more, consult your browser’s help documentation (e.g., Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge).
7) Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the “Last Updated” date above and, when appropriate, provide additional notice.
8) Extension Storage (Non-Cookie)
The Manifest extension relies on browser-provided storage (e.g., local storage/IndexedDB or sync storage) rather than HTTP cookies. These stores keep settings and Construct data on your device. If you enable cloud sync, relevant data is transmitted to our servers to provide cross-device functionality.
